A Poem of Weights & Measures

By Tamsin Smith

Another night’s scroll

Through tender shares

A couple in Paris snaps

Anubis escorting the dead

Three thousand years of remembering

It’s never too late for grace

Or to show oneself how

The public passion of a sunset reveals

Even a vendor’s neon sign can

Heart-alter an offer

We are betrayed by flashing arrows

No emoji can contain

My friend is never coming back

Only closer in a close-up

Shots of a Sunday drive

California’s Coast the star

And others bowling alone

In middling airports anonymou

Shapes race soggy dogs

Back to fractured shores

There are emotional reactions

For all of these events

And mood multiples

Creatively out-put

Details revealed

Of selves in progress

Interior mirrors
